About SPID

SOCIETY FOR PEOPLE’S INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT ® (SPID) is incepted in the year 2004 by like-minded, dedicated Social Workers, Educationists, and Professionals with an aim to bring socio-economic, education and health developments among the rural and urban populace.

The organization is registered under Karnataka State Societies Registration Act 1960 with the Governing Body consisting of 07 members with due representation of females. The organization registered office is at Haruvanahalli Village near Kadur Town in Kadur Taluk of Chickmagalur District and its Administrative Office is functioning in a rented building at the above address. The Chief Functionary is Mr. K. Prakasha who is a Post Graduate in Social Work and Under Graduate in Education with adequate experience in social work which includes various sectors in urban and rural development programs.

SPID Staff & Vehicles:  The Organization does have Administrative Staff 05, Manual Staff 12, Field Staff 13, Paramedical Staff 07, and Medical Professional (Part-Time) 05 Volunteers 60 (Part-Time). In all the above categories due representation has been given to female and reserved communities. We have 3 Office, Head Office in Chikkamagaluru District Karnataka, the Senior Citizens Help Line office located in SP Office Building & SPID Sub-branch in Kadur Taluk in Chikkamagaluru District Karnataka, We have 7 vehicles related to our Organization. Our Organization is secured by CCTV Cameras all over the building inside & outside. All Staff have been vaccinated.

Infrastructure: The organization’s administrative office building does have full furniture and fixtures, storage with all amenities like bath, toilets, electricity, and water supply. The administrative office does have full automation including an internet facility, telephone with training materials, loudspeakers, camera, projector, screen, and audio-video visuals. Television, Two Wheelers.

Area of Operation: The area of operation of the organization is in all 226 Grama Panchayaths in 008 Taluks of Chickmagalur District. Apart from this, the organization has also worked in all Taluks of Shimoga District, a few Taluks of Haveri, Davangere, Dakshina Kannada & Udupi Districts in Karnataka State in the past.

Area of Expertise: Community Organization, SHG Development, Awareness/ Income Generation/ Vocational and Skill Development Trainings, Integrated Women and Child Development, Environment, Community Health, Disabled and Senior Citizen Welfare and Rehabilitation, Awareness on Adolescent Girls Care, Rural Water Supply and Rural and Urban Sanitation, Youth Development, IEC/HRD Activities, Slum Development, Cultural Activities, Sports, Group Activities, Legal Awareness, and Literacy.

Geographical Condition: The Organizational working area spreads over hilly, semi-hilly, plain, and coastal regions of Karnataka State. This land spread in 12-14 degree Latitude – N and in the longitude 72-74 degrees – E. The cultivable land soil is of red-moored, sand-mixed red soil, and black cotton soil. coconut, areca nut, and coffee plantations farms exist. The main food crops are ragi, jowar, maize, and paddy. The commercial crops are edible oil seeds, pulses, cereals, spices, vegetables, flowers, and fruits. The average percentage of literacy among the target group is 65% The Health condition of the target group populace is below the average level. The average per capita income is RS 300/day. Migration is common in the search for seasonal employment.
